New Method For The Mouse Acceleration!

Good news, everyone!  Povohat found another method to perform mouse acceleration! Using the interception library/driver , povohat wrote a program that reads in mouse inputs and modifies them using the same variables and math as his other driver.  Basically, this means we now have a mouse acceleration driver that no longer requires test mode . We've been testing the acceleration program/implementation for a few weeks now, but I only got around to adapting the GUI for it yesterday.  I've been passing out builds to people looking for any issues, and so far it seems good.  Here is the latest test build  (or mega.nz mirror ).  If you find anything wrong, let me know! (01/03/16 fixes: Added support for 2000hz mice in graphing, fixed crash that happened during Windows startup, and tweaked timing of starting new instance of interaccel.exe when using global hotkeys (to avoid short duration of all accel being off). Thanks nGolf and The Man for the troubleshooting!) (12/19/15 bug fix: op

My Plans, Post G+

That picture is still funny. With Google Plus on the final leg with shutdown happening in March or April, there's a lot of interest in who is going where. I'm active on Facebook  and the 1st edition AD&D groups there, theMiniaturesPage , my blog here, /r/osr over on reddit, and on Discord (Chgowiz #5911). I had used Google Plus lately just as a way of keeping track what is going on, and I've started using Feedly again to keep track of blogs via RSS. I've also been poking about a bit more on the OD&D Forum , which is still one of the friendliest forums you'll find. 99% drama free, and I like it! You can still reach out to me via email: chgowiz@gmail.com. I hope y'all find happy landing spots. Game on!

The End Of The Mario Glitch Road. Why Did This Take So Long?

Lo and behold, after over three months, Chris finally uploaded the last video in his stupid Mario Game Genie series. A series nobody asked for, and probably would have been better if he looked at something other than Super Mario Bros. So why did this take so long? Chris claimed that he was on "summer hiatus" for his family. Few things. Chris, you're not a mainstream TV show, you don't get the luxury of summer hiatuses. The only reason we know you were on hiatus was someone asking about it in the COMMENTS of your latest video. If you were going to go on break, make a video about it or something. Don't leave people in the dark, otherwise people will jump ship (again). Also, using you family as an excuse is wearing thin since we know you're posting bundles and bundles of Puppet Steve videos. Stop pretending you're not Puppet Steve. So let's see why this last video took around a month to make. At least going by his comments on Facebook. Intro intro intro..

6 Reasons For Having A Defenseless Protagonist

Not having any combat can be really helpful to horror games and crucial in delivering the desired experience. This article presents the top 6 reasons for this and also explains how it ties into narrative games in general. Outlast 2 has recently been released and has spurred a lot of discussions around not giving the protagonist any means to fight back. I haven't played enough of the game to be able to give an overall impression of it (I'm just 30 minutes or so in), but I think I've seen enough to weigh in on the discussion. We at Frictional have been knee deep in this problem since 2006, and I've been up against the problem myself ever since I made my first hobby horror game in early 2000. This is something I've been thinking about for almost 20 years, and hence something I have a strong opinion about. The discussions around weaponless protagonists is often focused on horror games. It's really a question that concerns narrative games in general, though, and isn

WHERE TO GO FROM HERE - PART 2

As I eluded to in the last post, I am working through the numbers trying to decide if an episodic production and release through Kickstarter is a viable option. So, we now have a course and a destination… Which honestly is a very welcome and refreshing change. Why use Kickstarter? As a marketing platform it allows to reach a wider audience, not just my current customers but those new to the hobby and those who never knew DreamForge was even a 'thing'. I think we all know that the train has stalled, and its going to take a lot of effort and lots of attention to get it rolling again. Perhaps there will be a time that I can move off the Kickstarter platform, but for now… The broader exposure is required. This exposure comes at a price, Between the Kickstarter fees, the currency transaction fees and the backer support fees in the form of a post Kickstarter service to collect shipping and allow backers to add items or options, we are looking at near 10% in fees alone. Expectations:
