En julio del año pasado el róver lunar chino Yutu-2 descubrió una sustancia gelatinosa en un pequeño cráter en la cara oculta de la Luna. Ahora investigadores de la Academia de Ciencias de China han publicado un análisis de esta sustancia.

Que mide 52 por 16 centímetros, y la han descrito como "una brecha de fundición de impacto verdosa oscura y reluciente", según recoge este viernes la agencia Xinhua. La brecha es un tipo de roca compuesta de fragmentos angulares de minerales o rocas cementadas juntas.

Después de su hallazgo el año pasado, los científicos apuntaron a la extraordinaria "forma y color del material, similar a un gel, que es significativamente diferente del suelo lunar circundante".

Al comparar las imágenes tomadas por el róver con muestras traídas por las misiones estadounidenses, los investigadores descubrieron que la sustancia era parecida a las muestras recogidas por las expediciones Apollo, lo que sugiere que podría haberse formado por algún impacto violento.

Por tanto, concluyeron que la sustancia es un fragmento de roca que se derritió, probablemente debido al calor del impacto de un meteorito, y formó una masa brillante y vítrea de color verde oscuro.
