Beaterio De Lovaina, Una Ciudad Dentro De Una Ciudad

El beaterio o beguinaje es un recinto formado por una serie de casas agrupadas que llegaron a formar verdaderos barrios donde residían mujeres solteras, las llamadas beguinas. No eran religiosas,  no pertenecían a ninguna orden, aunque hacían votos, como castidad y obediencia, pero no de pobreza. Algunas eran de clase alta y podían tener propiedades, y por tanto tras un año recluidas podían tener casa propia y ejercer una profesión. 
Groot Begijnhof o Gran Beaterio de Lovaina, en Bélgica, es uno de los más representativos. Apartado del centro histórico, data del siglo XIII, aunque adquirió mayor notoriedad en torno a 1600 cuando llegó a alojar a casi 400 residentes. La mayoría de las mujeres provenían de familias adineradas, que contribuyeron a la construcción de esta magnífica pequeña ciudad amurallada que atraviesa el río Dijle.
Tras  unos años de abandono, fue comprada por la Universidad de esta ciudad belga, se mantiene en un excelente estado de conservación y se usa como residencia universitaria. Hoy constituye un oasis de tranquilidad y desde que se atraviesa su arco de entrada y se pasea por sus calles y plazas se tiene la sensación de viajar a otra época.  
      En 1998 fue reconocido por la UNESCO como Patrimonio de la Humanidad.

Systemic Lidocaine Decreased the Perioperative Opioid Analgesic Requirements but Failed to Reduce Discharge Time After Ambulatory Surgery

Perioperative systemic lidocaine significantly reduces opioid requirements in the ambulatory setting without affecting time to discharge.
